An American TV channel visited Finland and was impressed by

The American CBS dedicated seven minutes of its CBS News Sunday Morning current affairs program to Finnish children’s ability to distinguish fake news.

The American CBS TV channel got to know the media education of fourth graders at a school in Helsinki. In the program shown last Sunday, the critical media skills of ten-year-old children are admired, which helps distinguish fake news.

– Media literacy must be considered a civic skill, says the former Minister of Education Lee Andersson (left) in the program.

American journalist Chris Livesay says that media literacy in Finland is born out of necessity as a neighbor of Russia. He highlights, among other things, Russia’s disinformation campaign about inappropriate troop transfers to the border region.

In the program, Finland is presented as the number one country in the world for media literacy.

Last year the Bulgarian of the Open Society Institute in the index maintained by Finland, Finland was ranked number one for the sixth time.
