An American Jewish senator proposed a change of power in

The Democratic leader of the Senate, Chuck Schumer, considers Israel’s current prime minister an obstacle to the birth of peace.

A heated exchange of words began on Thursday evening between the leading US Democrat politician and the Israeli prime minister’s party, Likud.

Chuck Schumer in his speech in the Senate, he demanded an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and a change of power in Israel, i.e. early elections. According to Schumer, the current prime minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu is a direct obstacle to the birth of peace in the Middle East.

– Israel has the right to choose its leader and we must accept the outcome. But it’s also important to have options. The future of Israel must be discussed, Schumer said.

In his opinion, this is best achieved with the system of early elections.

In Schumer’s opinion, Israel would also make an irreversible mistake if the country did not accept the so-called two-state model.

In Israel, Schumer’s speeches were not too happy.

The Likud party led by Prime Minister Netanyahu quickly signaled that Israel is not a banana republic and that Netanyahu’s policies have broad support.

The party also stated in its statement that Israelis support the defeat of Hamas and oppose the idea that others will decide on their behalf to establish a “Palestinian terrorist state.”

The speeches do not represent the Biden administration

Also the Minister of Economy of Israel Bezalel Smotrich knocked out Schumer’s speeches.

– Israel expects the world’s largest democracy to respect democracy in Israel, he said.

The US State Department also rushed to comment on Schumer’s speech.

– Talks about early elections are Schumer’s opinions and do not represent the president Joe Biden administration, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matthew Miller.

He was also asked if Netanyahu’s actions do not frustrate the presidential administration at all.

– There are many things we wish Israel would do differently, Miller answered.

Schumer’s thoughts can be considered surprising, because he is a Jew himself and a long-term supporter of Israel.
