A detachment of American soldiers has arrived in Romania. Washington had announced at the beginning of the month the sending of troops to this NATO member country, in order to reassure the Allies worried about the tensions on the borders of Ukraine. In addition to Romania, Poland has also seen additional reinforcements arrive in recent days. A contingent which should reach a total of nearly 3,000 soldiers, intended to protect Eastern Europe from a possible invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
More than a hundred specialized American soldiers have arrived in Romania, announced the Romanian Defense Minister.
Military personnel who are preparing alongside Romanian soldiers specialized in logistics, which means that the rest of the soldiers who are to be deployed in Romania will not be long in arriving.
In total, therefore, a thousand American soldiers will be transferred from Germany to Romania, where 900 American soldiers have already been stationed in this NATO member country since 2004.
And the United States is not the only one to have pledged to send soldiers to Romania. France has also announced that it will send troops, without specifying their number.
This deployment follows the arrival last Saturday of American soldiers in Poland, where a total of 2,000 additional soldiers are expected. Troops based in North Carolina, USA.
The NATO countries and in particular the United States have decided to increase military capacities in Eastern Europe, while the situation on the borders of Ukraine remains as tense as ever.
Troops which are added to the 8,500 soldiers placed on alert at the end of January by American President Joe Biden to be deployed in the rapid reaction force of the Atlantic Alliance if necessary.
