It is not uncommon for ordered deliveries to disappear on the way to their destination. This can be particularly annoying for the recipient. But even when an order arrives, it can contain a nasty surprise.
If the disappearance of packages is a result of theft, the amount of damage can be very high. According to our colleagues at 3DJuegos.com, 100 PS5 game consoles and other goods worth 100,000 euros have now been stolen in a major Amazon package robbery in France.
100 PS5 consoles and other items worth 100,000 euros were stolen
What was stolen? The stolen goods were Amazon deliveries with various contents. The packages included clothing, leather goods, perfume and other valuables.
There are also many electronic devices. Among them, the French authorities found coffee machines, vacuum cleaners, notebooks and PC screens.
However, around 100 PS5 game consoles made up the majority of the loot. The total value is said to be around 100,000 euros. A large sum, but it is nothing compared to the fine that Sony now has to pay in France.
Where were the stolen packages found? The Amazon employee and an accomplice used an additional apartment to hide the countless packages. In his role as a parcel delivery person, he was able to gradually collect the stolen deliveries there.
After their arrest, they initially gave a different address. But the investigators didn’t find anything there. During their work, the authorities were finally able to locate the second apartment and discovered the stolen goods.
How was the crime discovered? After more and more shipments disappeared, the shipping giant became skeptical. The two perpetrators quickly came under suspicion. Both men were arrested by the French police while they were still on site.
When they were arrested, some packages containing PS5 gaming consoles were found in the driver’s cab of the van. At their first hearing, both admitted the crime. In addition, there is the use of forged documents.
Since the investigators quickly discovered them, the Amazon driver and his accomplice no longer had time to resell their loot. Both men will remain in police custody until the trial begins.
