An (almost) perfect comedy in which Karoline Herfurth falls into absolute chaos while looking for a sperm donor

An almost perfect comedy in which Karoline Herfurth falls into

Things are actually going well for Karla (Karoline Herfurth). She’s the host of a hit radio show and she’s dating the love of her life. At least that’s what she thinks, until her boyfriend leaves her and she’s suddenly faced with an elementary question: what to do when you are in your late 30s and finally want to become a motherbut suddenly no longer has a potential father at his side?

Karla decides to have the child alone with the help of a sperm donor. But only her best friend Senay (Jasmin Shakeri) sticks by her. Her family – from the divorced parents (Herbert Knaup and Ulrike Kriener) to the neurotic sisters (Milena Tscharntke and Nora Tschirner) – is against it. Also because they have their own problems. Karla is overwhelmed. And then she falls in love with Ole (Aaron Altaras), who is 10 years younger than her and doesn’t seem ready to have a child yet.

The emotional and family chaos is perfect. And the entertaining result of that now for the first time at WOW in subscription * streamable.

That’s why it’s always worth doing something nice with Karoline Herfurth and Nora Tschirner

Director and actress Karoline Herfurth (along with screenwriters Monika Fässler and Tim Hebborn) proves once again that she has an eye for the wonderful, hideous and sometimes just damn funny of female existence. Be it the constant interplay between boundless frustration and unconditional love between sisters or the heartbreaking tragedy of having to watch your own mother drinking her loneliness.

Nora Tschirner (left) and Karoline Herfurth play dissimilar sisters in Simply Something Beautiful

In our review of the theatrical release of Simply something beautiful, we recorded 2022:

Simply something beautiful is funny, human, touching and sometimes even hurts. The film works with pleasure on the clichés from which other love films are sometimes more, sometimes less obviously stapled together.

Just something nice alternates fluently between tears of laughter and … the other tears. The ones that flow when you feel recognized in your own fears and family tragedies.

Karoline Herfurth’s film is only superficially a film about the desire for great love and a child of your own. Actually he is one Declaration of love to family and female solidarity – and quite often quite a lot of fun over almost 2 hours of running time.

So you can stream the German comedy with a subscription

Just something beautiful from September 01, 2023 included in the subscription to WOW (formerly Sky Ticket) and can be streamed there in the home cinema. Here you will find an overview of all WOW subscription types.
