Despite the noted and underlined absence of the President Lopez Obrador at the top, Mexico will increase from 10,000 to 20,000 the number of people who can benefit from a specific work permit program. Canada will open its borders to 50,000 agricultural workers. Belize is going to launch a regularization program for illegal immigrants, while Costa Rica is going to renew a temporary protection program for people from Cuba, Nicaragua, or even Venezuela, from where 6 million people left for escape a terrible economic crisis.
The United States will welcome 20,000 refugees in 2023 and 2024
It is mainly for Venezuelan migrants that the White House will release more than 300 million dollars in humanitarian aid. The Biden administration will also increase the reception of Haitian refugees, without giving figures.
In total, 20,000 refugees from Latin America will be welcomed into the United States in 2023 and 2024. In 2021, more than 2 million illegal migrant arrests take place at the southern border of the United States.
