In One Piece, Luffy has several strong opponents. One of them is the Grand Admiral of the Navy, Sakazuki alias Akainu. He is so strong in the manga and anime that even the Straw Hat Pirate had to flee from him. Now Akainu proves that he is too strong even for the One Piece deck.
Why is Akainu too strong? Akainu appears several times in One Piece’s Trading Card Game (TCG). Three cards from the Grand Admiral were banned because their effects were too strong.
This means that the card can still be purchased and collected, but it cannot be used in official tournaments. This means that Akainu only has collector value, but its effects can only be used in fun battles against friends.

What do fans say about this? The user jokes about Akainu’s banishment from the TCG. If the Grand Admiral were the protagonist of One Piece, the manga would have ended in a year. The user is alluding to the fact that Akainu was so strong that he would have fought his way through to One Piece in no time.
Other users agree exactly with him: There is a reason why Oda banished the Grand Admiral behind the desk. If Akainu had been hunting pirates in the wild, most of them would have been caught within a very short time.
Many are also sad that Akainu was banned from the TCG. Especially when the deck is built around such strong cards, it is annoying when this very card is no longer allowed to be used in official tournaments. “Admiral fanboys are going crazy over this news,” writes Sitback101, for example.
Akainu manages from his office
What role does Akainu currently play in One Piece? Akainu rose to prominence during the Marineford arcs for being responsible for the death of a popular character. After the time jump, he was promoted to Grand Admiral and manages the Navy’s affairs from his desk.
Since then, Akainu has appeared briefly in almost every arc. Most of the time he isn’t involved in any fights, but in the current Egghead arc he briefly enters the fighting stage.
Many fans are worried that the anime is already showing the events on Egghead Island: “They should have waited a year”: One Piece’s new arc starts in January 2024, but fans would have liked a bit of a break
