A second season of One Piece is coming. The double strike in Hollywood is putting a number of obstacles in the way of the continuation of the Netflix adaptation of the cult anime. Not only is the production of new episodes delayed, but also the search for the right cast for new characters in season 2. But a star could have been found long ago.
As ComicBook.com reports, fans have found “incriminating” evidence that the casting of one of the most important One Piece characters has already been confirmed. We’re talking about Monkey D. Luffy’s brotherwho is set to make his first appearance in Season 2 of One Piece.

After One Piece introduced us to the young Straw Hat Pirate’s grandfather in season 1 and even hid clues about his father, season 2 could now reveal another member of Luffy’s family.

One Piece Season 2 is expected to film the Alabasta saga from manga and anime. In it we meet Luffy’s older brother Portgas D. Ace for the first time in the original – but they are not related by blood. Ace is the son of the dead pirate king Gold D. Roger and, like Luffy, also has devil fruit powers. Thanks to the Fire Fruit, he can turn his body into flames.

25-year-old Emery Kelly is known, among other things, from the Netflix sitcom Alexa & Katie – and is a huge One Piece fan. A picture of the character Ace has been adorning his Instagram profile for some time.
A clearer indication on his possible season 2 cast can be found in the list of his followers: Both One Piece star Iñaki Godoy and the two showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda follow Kelly on Instagram.
We will probably only find out whether Emery Kelly will actually be seen in season 2 after the Hollywood strike ends, when casting processes are officially allowed to take place again. Of course, there is a possibility that the Netflix production had already cast the first stars for the second season before the actors’ strike that began in July. And hopefully someone has already contacted Jamie Lee Curtis.
