Publisher blocks games from a key provider
Why did some players no longer have access? The problem only affected players who had purchased their game key via the Fanatical website. A “key” is a code that you can enter on Steam, for example, to gain access to the game.
User Mysteryisred shared a screenshot on Reddit saying that the key would no longer work due to a decision by the publisher.

The player wolfegothmog then wrote on Reddit that the publisher had “messed up” and revoked a bunch of keys that were sold on Fanatical.
Other users also confirmed this theory on Reddit and then contacted the publisher and Fanatical, who quickly commented on the incident.
How does Fanatical react to the incident? Fanatical responded to the Reddit post just three hours after the incident. In the message, Fanatical thanks players for reporting tickets, as these help to pass on information to the publisher.
According to the announcement, there was an error on the publisher’s side and they are already working on a solution. It was not their intention that users’ keys would be blocked. Another six hours later, Fanatical gave an update to the community that the problem had been solved and users should be able to use the game normally again.
