Amsterdam Airport, Dutch Parliament thinks about a transit tax

KLM against the Dutch government over the flight limit at

(Finance) – After the prolonged debate on the flight cap, the Dutch parliament returns to take care of the airport Amsterdam Schiphol where he would like to introduce a ttransit axis.

The answer to this hypothesis came via LinkedIn from CEO of KLM, Marjan Rintel, in a lapidary way: “Tax after tax is piled up and in this way passengers are chased away, thus pushing them towards other airports. Such a policy does not guarantee cleaner and more sustainable aviation”.

Rintel validates that the increase in airport taxes could lead to a reduction of more than a third in transit traffic in the Schiphol hub, which is of interest 6 out of 10 passengers. In the first eight months of the current year there were some in transit 24 million. You can imagine what it would be weight of a tax thus conceived and taking into account that in the meantime the annual flights on Schiphol have been reduced from 500,000 to 452,500.
