An ammunition depot in Crimea has been blown up in a Ukrainian drone strike, claims Sergei Aksyonov, Russian governor of the Russian-occupied peninsula.

People living within five kilometers of the depot were evacuated and rail traffic was temporarily stopped as a result of the attack, writes Aksyonov on Telegram.

Ukraine has not commented on the details of the drone attack.

Crimea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014 in violation of international law, has been a target throughout the Russian offensive in Ukraine, but the attacks have increased in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, at least eight civilians have been killed and more injured in Russian attacks in 11 regions across Ukraine overnight Saturday, according to Ukrainian authorities.
