Ammunition fell from a warplane in the city center in Russia

It was reported that an explosion occurred as a result of the fall of ammunition from a Russian Su-34 fighter jet in the city center of Belgorod, close to the border with Ukraine, in the south of Russia.

Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov made the first statement about the explosion in the city center.

Stating that as a result of the explosion, a large pit with a radius of 20 meters was formed at an intersection in the city center, Gladkov said that damage occurred to some buildings and vehicles in a clean state.

Gladkov reported that 2 people were injured in the explosion.

Immediately after Governor Gladkov’s statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense made a statement regarding the explosion.

In the statement, “Aviation ammunition fell in an unusual way during the flight of the Air and Space Forces Su-34 aircraft over the city of Belgorod at 22:15 Moscow time on April 20, 2023.” information shared.

It was stated in the statement that there was damage to the residences and no loss of life in the incident, and that the joint investigation on the subject is continuing.

In the social media regarding the incident, there was a security camera image showing that the sound of the plane was heard in the city center and the explosion occurred shortly after. (AA)
