We have a new duo in the box! During the autumn, Pär Lernström will be joined by Amie Bramme Sey during Idol’s Friday finals. Over the years, we have seen several different people assume the role of Pär’s sidekick, and now it is Amie’s turn.
– I was very shocked. In every assignment you get, you are always surprised and you still have to stop and think that “God, of all the things you could have done, I get to do this!”, says Amie.
– If you want to host a program in Sweden, there are a few programs that you check a little against, and of course it’s like that with Idol. It has always existed, she continues.
“Absolutely has been a dream for me”
The first Friday finale starts tonight, and even before that, Amie loves what she describes as “this little world”.
– The whole world just spins very fast, there is a lot happening in one’s private life and around the world that is anxiety-inducing. Imagine having a job that is just entertaining, wonderful and fun. It has absolutely been a dream for me, says Amie.
There was a time when she thought she would never be offered a job assignment like this.
– That I might feel too boring, serious or troublesome, because there has been a lot of talk about various issues that can really be mood killers. Then it’s not like you think you’ll get to work with Idol, she says.
This is how Amie and Pär feel about working together
With a couple of seasons under her belt, Pär describes Idol more or less as part of her identity, but it is different for Amie – even though she is used to both the role of host and live television. But the contrast between Pär’s and Amie’s experience in the Idol context makes Amie feel more secure than insecure.
– I can’t imagine that anyone would be insecure about Pär, he is very keen that everyone should feel included, she says.
– I feel that Pär is a very modern media man. He is not of that old school where you have to show who has the most power, who has worked the longest, who earns the most. These different hierarchies of power, which are obviously alive and kicking in our industry, she continues.
And the warm feelings are mutual in the duo, there are words of praise and tributes from both sides.
– It is very safe to have someone like Amie with you who has performed a lot live, comes from radio just like I do and has a very natural approach. She is the same person behind as when the cameras are rolling, he says.
– You like Amie, I think there are few who don’t feel that way.
