Interim CAO Tony Haddad tabled the draft budget document at Monday’s council meeting, pointing out it aims to continue contributions to tax-funded capital expenditures, fleet lifecycle reserves and the capital asset plan.
It also includes enhancements proposed by various departments.
Haddad noted increases in risk management, insurance, utilities, fuel, health-care benefits, salaries and wages and the police contract needed to be accounted for in the budget, but Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund grants and assessment growth will help to temper those increases.
Public consultations are underway until Jan. 18. To view the budget, visit https://www.amherstburg.ca/en/town-hall/Budget-and-Finance.aspx
Council will deliberate and review the document on Jan. 26 and 27.
It is expected the 2022 budget will be adopted at the Feb. 14 council meeting.
