The councilor points out that social tasks are “too urgent to postpone for us”. He specifically mentions increasing poverty, nitrogen, deterioration of nature, housing shortage and the energy transition. The city council aims for structural savings in expenditure of 24 million per year. That amount is based on the deficit that the council expects in 2027, plus a buffer of about 10 percent. To achieve the change, each budget program looks for a saving of 4 percent of expenditure. The council is also looking at opportunities to generate more income.
