“We have to see where we think the priority is necessary,” says Arie den Oude (CDA). “Are we going for prevention or the bad guys?” According to the mayor, the problem is not so black and white. “It happens both. Young people are dragged into drug crime and at the same time we see the biggest cases, such as the drug lab.” If it is up to him, it is clear: both are desperately needed. “If you manage to get a young person to commit crimes less with prevention, that’s a small victory.” According to him, that does not mean that the tough guys are not being looked at.
