Amersfoort councilors want to tackle institutional racism Takes a lot

What is institutional racism?

KIS explains institutional racism as follows: processes, policies and the (written and unwritten) rules of institutions that lead to inequality between people of different origins, skin color and/or religion. That is structural and collective. This may differ in practice.

For example, it may happen that people with a migration background are unable to progress as quickly or do not have promotion opportunities. It may also be that certain groups are paid less or that there are forms of interaction where racism plays a role, such as compliments that are not compliments.
