Amersfoort – The Amersfoort municipal council thinks that many motorists had to get used to the car-free city center last year. It is one of the explanations given by the council for the enormous number of fines issued in the city last year for driving where it is not allowed, almost 45,000. That is approximately a third of the total number of fines issued for this in the Netherlands.
