Arms dealers testify that new customers are somewhat concerned about political violence – and therefore arm themselves secretly.
– In 2020 alone, 50 million background checks were carried out. That means 50 million bought a gun, says Bryan Rastok, director of marketing at the Texas Gun Experience.
The United States is a country with great political tension and where the storming of Congress has left a deep mark. According to Bryan Rastok, the fear of new riots or violence related to this election may be a reason why some have armed themselves.
– Due to all the uncertainty surrounding violence and riots, many people buy weapons a little on the sly, he says.
After the presidential election two years ago, it was increasingly mentioned that the United States might be headed for a civil war. Those speculations have not disappeared – but also occur before this election.
– There has long been talk of unrest and civil war. Denying election results is nothing new, but tensions have risen, says gun owner Colin Brogan.
