American Pie star raged because creators changed her accent

American Pie – Like a hot apple pie has turned its actors into absolute superstars for several years. This included Shannon Elizabeth, who plays Jim’s (Jason Biggs) crush in the film, Nadia, a Czech exchange student. In the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, the actress revealed:

[Die Produzenten] wanted me to re-dub the voice. I said something and they were like, “Ok, now with less of an accent.” I just thought, “Why are you messing up my accent?” I had worked hard on it. After that I was devastated. She told all my friends, “The film is going to be awful. […] They have [den Akzent] ruined, don’t look at him!”

Actors sometimes work for several months with language teachers, to perfect the specific accent or dialect of their role. So Elizabeth’s anger is understandable, after all, a creative decision ruined a large part of her preparation for the role.

Nonetheless, Shannon returned to her original role in the sequel American Pie 2. As she points out in the podcast, However, she made the creators pay dearly for her return.
