The US Air Force’s Rockwell B-1B Lancer is a four-engine American long-range bomber. The bomber had nuclear capability until 1994, but later they were converted to carry conventional weapons.
It is designed for supersonic speed and has an intercontinental range. The plane is 44.5 meters long and has a wingspan of 42 meters.
The B-1 is, along with the B-2 and B-52, one of the US Air Force’s three types of strategic bombers. The B-1B model began to be delivered in 1985.
In December 2022, the next generation, the B-21 Raider, was shown by the manufacturer Northrop Grumman. Each copy is estimated to cost upwards of $700 million. The US Air Force has ordered at least 100, the first of which should be operational in the mid-2020s.
