After days of vagueness around a possible intervention, the United States attacked three nuclear sites of Iran on Sunday, Donald Trump saying that the country’s enrichment capacities were now “completely destroyed”.
Iran: “Eternal consequences”
“The events (…) are scandalous and will have eternal consequences,” warned the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi, denouncing “extremely dangerous, anarchic and criminal” behavior of the United States. Iran will defend itself “by all the necessary means,” he added. “There is no red line that they did not cross. And the last, the most perilous, occurred last night. They crossed a major red line by attacking nuclear installations,” he accused.
Revolutionary guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, threatened the United States with “response which they will regret”. The organization of Iranian atomic energy has denounced “a barbaric act which violates international law”, and affirmed that “despite the evil plots of its enemies”, Iran “will not leave the way to development” of its nuclear industry “to be arrested”.
Israel: “historic turning point”
“Your daring decision to target Iran’s nuclear installations with the impressive and fair power of the United States will change history,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a video message from thanks to Donald Trump.
Sunday attacks are a “historic turning point that can help lead the Middle East and beyond to a future of prosperity and peace,” said the head of the Israeli government. “President Trump and I often say: peace by force,” he continued: “First comes the strength, then comes peace. (…) President Trump and the United States acted with great strength”.
Russia: “irresponsible” bombings
Russia firmly condemned American strikes, denouncing irresponsible “bombing against its main ally in the Middle East.
“The irresponsible decision to carry out missiles and bombs on the territory of a sovereign state, whatever the arguments put forward, blatantly violates international law,” said Russian diplomacy.
UN: “Dangerous escalation”
“It is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the stiff rope – and a direct threat to peace and security in the world,” said United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
EU: Call to “all parts to take a step back”
The head of diplomacy of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, called “all parties to take a step back, to go back to the negotiation table and to avoid any additional escalation”, on X.
She added that Iran should not develop nuclear weapons and that EU’s foreign ministers would discuss the situation on Monday.
Pope: “Humanity demands peace”
“Humanity shouts and claims peace” in front of “alarming news from the Middle East”, launched Pope Leo XIV after the American strikes.
France: call “for detention”
France said it was concerned after the American strikes, urging “the parties to the restraint to avoid any climbing likely to lead to an extension of the conflict”, according to a message from the chief of French diplomacy. He clarified that Paris “did not participate in these strikes or their planning”.
Great Britain: Iran must “return to the negotiation table”
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called Iran to “return to the negotiating table”. “Iran should never be authorized to develop a nuclear weapon and the United States has taken measures to mitigate this threat,” said Mr. Starmer, stressing that “stability in the region is a priority”.
Saudi Arabia: “great concern”
Saudi Arabia “follows with great concern developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the targeting of Iranian nuclear installations by the United States,” said the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
Türkiye: “deeply concerned”
Turkey said it was “deeply concerned” by the “possible consequences” of American strikes.
Oman: call for an “immediate de -escalation”
Oman, who plays the role of mediator between the United States and Iran in nuclear discussions, condemned “this illegal assault” and calls for “immediate de-escalation,” said a spokesperson for the Omani Foreign Ministry.
Pakistan: Iran has “the right to defend itself”
Pakistan, the only nuclear power in the Muslim world and ally of the United States, condemned American strikes. “We reiterate that these attacks violate all the standards of international law and that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the Charter of the United Nations,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
India: call for an “immediate de -escalation”
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose country holds nuclear weapon, said he called “an immediate de -escalation” during a telephone interview with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.
Germany: call to Iran for “negotiations” with Washington
The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz “reiterated his call to Iran to immediately start negotiations with the United States and Israel in order to achieve a diplomatic solution to the conflict”.
Red cross: risk of a “war with irreversible consequences”

Houthis rebels: “declaration of war”
The Houthis rebels of Yemen, supported by Iran, said they consider American strikes as “a declaration of war” against the Iranian people adding to be ready “to target American ships and buildings in the Red Sea”.
Hamas: “criminal attack”
“We condemn this criminal assault,” wrote the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, an ally of Iran and committed for 20 months in a war with Israel in the Gaza Strip. “We consider it as a blatant example of the policy of imposing hegemony by force, an aggression based on the law of the jungle, and a violation of all international standards and conventions”.
