All American Airlines flights were briefly suspended in the United States on Tuesday, December 24.
Fear in the United States, a few hours before Christmas. For about an hour this Tuesday, December 24, early in the afternoon French time, all American Airlines flights were suspended in the United States. All flights awaiting takeoff have been delayed across the country, while more than 3,000 flights are scheduled by the company for this Tuesday alone. American Airlines quickly indicated that the origin of the delays was linked to a “supplier technology problem”. Which ? No details were given. It would be a software failure which would prevent the calculations necessary for the smooth running of the flight, reports CNN. The outage was finally quickly resolved, thus resuming the company’s air traffic.
According to the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), all of the company’s flights were on the ground, a real hassle for Americans who mainly travel by plane within the country, the rail network being less developed and particularly large distances from one state to another.
Was France concerned?
French travelers were able to ask themselves the question: would the outage have repercussions in France? The airline only communicated on flights within the United States. Flights going from France to the United States and vice versa were not impacted, as ADP (Aéroports de Paris) informed us. Contacted by The Internet userADP had assured that no generalized alert had been issued at Parisian airports, although the situation in the United States could still have impacted France.
