American Airlines cuts its second quarter profit forecast

(Finance) – American Airlines predicts that i total revenue per available seat mile, an indicator of pricing power, will decline about 5%-6% in the second quarter compared to a year ago. This compares with a decline of between 1% and 3% predicted previously.

Additionally, the company has lowered its guidelines for adjusted operating margin by 1 percentage point, between approximately 8.5% and 10.5%.

The airline also announced that Vasu Raja, Chief Commercial Officer, will leave in June 2024. Effective immediately, Stephen Johnson, Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, will assume leadership of the commercial organization and help lead the search for a new Chief Commercial Officer.
