Avon MAITLAND SCHOOLS IN NORTH PERTH ARE ONE STEP Closer to a September 2026 Boundary Change Needed to Deal With Crowding at Local Schools.
At their meeting on you, School Board Trustees we presented with an updated report on boundary change options by mississauga-based consulting firm Watson & Associates Economists.
While the firm has presented nine different options to the board, the prefered choice, which would impact 215 Current Students, would still see some schools over their capacity limits once these changes are implemeted.
Trustees Are Still Milling Over the Options, But, Depending On The Final Choice, There are AnyWhere from 147 to 357 Current Students who Could be impact. Every possible scenario WOULD ALSO require out-of-boundary Students, meaning Those who WOULD BE Required to Leave Their Catchment Area to School Outside Their Home Boundary.
The Review was annouded last November to help Reluits Growing Enrolment Pressures at Schools in Listowel. Before the Review was conductive, Board Officials Had projecting signaling Enrolment Increases Over the Next Decade at Several Schools, included Listowel Eastdale Public School, Mornington Central School, North Perth Westfield Elementary School and Listowel District Second School, Change.
Without Changes, Three of These Schools Would Be at More than 100 Per Capacity in that Time Frame, The West Report Noted. Listowel Eastdale Would Be at 111 per cent Capacity by 2029 and 138 per cent Capacity by 2034. Mornington Central Would Be at 96 per cent Capacity by 2029 and 129 per cent Capacity by 2034. North Perth Westfield, Which is Currently Already over capacity at 115 per hundred enrolled, is expected to Grow to 119 per cent next School Year, to 143 per cent by 2029, and to 166 per cent by 2034.
In Contrast, Schools that surrnd Listowel Would Still See Lower Capacity, With Both Howick Central Public School and North Woods Elementary School Remaining Under 75 Percent.
However, The Preferred Option Would Still Leave Between Two To Four Of The Impact Schools Over Capacity by 2034.
While Capacity is a minister of education measure, it do not take into account other factors, such as class size or dedicated rooms for programs, the board’s superintend of corporate services, cheri Carter, told the beacon herald incember.
“Say you have a french classroom, or a music classroom, and now in mary of these schools, Becuse they at capacity, they do the luxury of haveing a dedicated classroom for french. It Should be, ”Carter Said.
