AMD introduces RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT – With a few nasty side swipes against Nvidia

AMD introduced the Radeon RX 7000 in its stream. MeinMMO explains what you need to know about the new graphics card from AMD.

AMD presented the first “RX 7000” graphics cards in its stream. The first details of the two fastest graphics cards that AMD wants to bring to the market soon and with which they want to stand up to Nvidia have been shown.

The essentials in brief:

  • The RX 7900 XTX will be AMD’s fastest graphics card. The GPU is scheduled to be released on December 13, 2022 and will officially cost $999.
  • With the RX 7900 XT, AMD has presented a second graphics card. This is based below the RX 7900 XTX. Here the prices start at 899 US dollars and the card is also scheduled for release on December 13th.
  • All new graphics cards are based on the new RDNA3 architecture and on a special chiplet architecture in 5nm. The new architecture should be significantly more efficient.
  • With DisplayPort 2.1, FSR 3.0 and HYPR-RX, a whole range of new features have also been shown, which should be available to gamers in the coming months. On top of that, AMD is teaming up with manufacturers to offer custom gaming PCs with AMD hardware.
  • Also new in the graphics cards are AI units that are built into the chip. Until now, AMD GPUs have not offered an equivalent to Nvidia’s tensor cores.
  • In the following, MeinMMO presents the two new graphics cards that AMD presented today in detail.

AMD introduces Radeon RX 7000 today, but gamers’ wishes and hopes might be too big

RX 7900 XTX – This is AMD’s new flagship for 8K gaming

What exactly does the RX 7900 XTX offer? With the RX 7900 XTX, AMD has introduced a graphics card that is deliberately aimed at gamers who want to gamble in 4K or 8K. AMD built a lot of technology into the new graphics card. These include DisplayPort 2.1, FSR 3.0, and a new technology called HYPR-RX that aims to improve latency. In addition, the graphics cards have a special chiplet architecture that is supposed to be particularly efficient.

It is also worth mentioning that the RX 7900 XTX should require a power of 355 watts – Nvidia’s RTX 4090 is specified with a TDP of 450 watts and therefore officially requires more.

When will the RX 7900 XTX be released? The graphics card will officially be released on December 13, 2022, just before the Christmas business.

What will the RX 7900 XTX cost? The fastest Radeon GPU is said to cost $999 when it is released, making it significantly cheaper than the competition. Because Nvidia demands 1,599 US dollars as a recommended retail price for the RTX 4090. In Germany, the prices should therefore be just over the 1,000 euro mark.

RX 7900 XT – AMD’s second graphics card is also said to be for 4K gaming

What exactly does the RX 7900 XT offer? The second graphics card from AMD should also offer 4K gaming. The range of features is identical to the RX 7900 XTX, but offers fewer compute units and a lower clock frequency.

When will the RX 7900 XT be released? The GPU is also scheduled for release on December 13, 2022.

What will the RX 7900 XT cost? The graphics card is said to go on sale for $899. This makes the graphics card $100 cheaper than the XTX version.

AMD throws a few jabs at Nvidia

What are these taunts? AMD couldn’t resist a few targeted taunts to Nvidia when presenting the new graphics cards. So it was explained that no new power adapter was needed for the new graphics cards – this alluded to the problems that Nvidia is said to be currently having with charred cables (via GameStar.de).

They also proudly declared that they didn’t have to buy a new system or a new case. The graphics cards would also fit into the old system. Another taunt towards Nvidia, who in their presentation mainly showed how big the new RTX 4090 has become.

Can you buy the tickets at all? After the official release of the RTX 3000 generation, hardly anyone could buy a GPU. Because either the graphics cards were hardly available or much too expensive. You sometimes had to pay thousands of euros on eBay for a single graphics card.

What do you think? Does AMD have a chance against Nvidia with the graphics cards presented? Will you upgrade or would you rather stick with your current graphics card?

This is what you should definitely know about the next generation of graphics cards before you buy a new one now
