FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1 announced

AMD has announced FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.1, the next update to its popular temporal amplification technology. FSR 2.1 includes algorithm updates that improve image quality in games, while reducing effects such as ghosting and glowing.

FSR 2.1 support, available for free download for game developers on GPUOpen.com, has been added to the game with the latest update of Farming Simulator 22. For Hitman 3, it will be active in an upcoming update. Additionally, AMD’s FSR 2 plug-in for Unreal Engine 4.26/4.27 and Unreal Engine 5 has been updated to support FSR 2.1 with some additional improvements.

AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution is temporal boosting technology designed to increase frame rates in supported games while delivering outstanding image quality. Like FSR 1 and FSR 2, FSR 2.1 is fully open source and runs on a wide variety of hardware, including competitors’ products.

AMD also announced 11 more games that will receive FSR 2 support, bringing the total number of games supported to 45 in less than four months since the technology’s release. New games include Deep Rock Galactic, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Scorn and more.
