Two patients have died at Mora Hospital’s emergency department since staff were warned too late that the people were on their way in, local media reports.

In one of the cases, an ambulance had transported a patient for about an hour. Despite that, the reception was not informed about the patient until the ambulance had arrived at the hospital’s garage, reports SVT Nyheter Dalarna.

Staff at the emergency department believe that earlier warnings from the ambulance staff are required in order for care to be effective and patient safe. The hospital has therefore requested a meeting with the ambulance service to address the alleged deficiencies, reports P4 Dalarna.

In a deviation report from Region Dalarna, a total of two deaths are linked to late or no warning from the ambulance service. The ambulance staff has stated that it was forced to deviate from routines due to firewall work.
