Amazon Prime Video and Guy Ritchie are clearly positioning one of them as competition to Netflix’s popular Enola Holmes film series.

Young Sherlock is the name of Amazon’s new Sherlock series and, like Netflix’s Enola Holmes, is based on a book series inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters. Only this time it is not the Holmes sister, but the young Sherlock himself who gets to investigate. Andy Lane’s novel saga comprises 8 volumes *, starting with Young Sherlock Holmes: Death is in the Air *.
According to Deadline, the Amazon series Young Sherlock revolves around the 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes, who is drawn into a murder investigation at Oxford University which endangers his own freedom. At such a young age, however, he still lacks discipline and his Methods are cruder than the audience might be used to from the gentleman mastermind.

Guy Ritchie has already made Sherlock Holmes films
Young Sherlock is written by series creator Matthew Parkhill (The Caller), while Guy Ritchie directs becomes and also acts as executive producer. Ritchie had already proven his talent for series productions on Netflix this year with The Gentlemen. With Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows, he also directed two cinema adventures in the past with Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role of the famous private detective.
