Amazon is slowly but surely preparing the start of its largest series production: In September, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on the streaming service. Alongside familiar characters like Galadriel and Sauron, we’ll be introduced to the designed for five seasonsget to know numerous new characters in the series that was planned through to the end.

One of these characters is that played by Charles Edwards Celebrimbor. Anyone who is familiar with Tolkien’s Middle-earth cosmos will certainly have heard the name before: without Celebrimbor, a Noldo-Elf from the House of Feanor, Sauron would never have been able to forge the rings of power.

Empire has released the first image of Celebrimbor in the Lord of the Rings series. His look already speaks volumes: although he is an accomplice of evil, he knows about them devastating effects his work. We can’t wait to see how the Lord of the Rings series translates this bitter conflict into moving images.

John D. Payne, who is co-creative with Patrick McKay, describes Celebrimbor’s role in relation to Empire as follows:

With Sauron we have it [in der Serie] dealing with one of the greatest villains of all time. And a central character in this story is Celebrimbor. He is an Elvish smith manipulated to aid in the creation of the Rings of Power. We are very much looking forward to bringing him to Middle-earth. He’s very mysterious.
