The elaborate fantasy series The wheel of time returns to Amazon Prime* tomorrow with her Season 2, consoling and over a year without The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The film adaptation of the 15-volume epic * by Robert Jordan took us into a world in 2021 in which only certain women, the Aes Sedai, were allowed to practice magic. For males, the ability to cast spells had long ago been corrupted, driving insane any male channelers who wielded it. But then he became “Reborn dragon” prophesies – a chosen one who will save or destroy the world would.

The complex fantasy world of the Amazon series was heavily inspired by Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. The magician Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) comes with her protector Lan (Daniel Henney) to the village of Two Rivers, because there the same five candidates: the chosen “dragon” could be: Farm boy Rand (Josha Stradowski), his buddy Mat (Barney Harris), blacksmith Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), village healer Nynaeve (Zoe Robins) and her student Egwene (Madeleine Madden). Together they flee from evil’s minions: a monstrous Trolloc army led by the eyeless “Pale Ones”.

The self-declared dragon Logain (Álvaro Morte) turns out to be the wrong chosen one elsewhere and is cut off from magic. The friends split up and get back together. Finally, the “eye of the world” arises Rand as a Dragon Reborn out, but only Moiraine knows, while the others assume he is dead. Rand defeats (apparently) the Dark King (Fare Fares). However, the Amazon series revealed the identity of the big villain to be wrong just before Season 2 of The Wheel of Time.

What can we expect in the second season of Amazon’s fantasy series?

This time, the focus of the second season is first of all Search for the Horn of Valere: The artifact stolen from shadow friend Padan Fain (Johann Myers) in episode 8 is said to be able to summon a large dead army of fallen heroes to battle – which is just one of the many Lord of the Rings parallels in The Wheel of Time.

In addition, the (already shown in the last season 1 scene) threatens invasion of a naval power all kingdoms: The Seanchan want to subjugate the continent and use enslaved power channelers, which is particularly dangerous for the Aes Sedai.

The second season of Amazon’s fantasy series takes place 5 months after the events of season 1. The former companions from The Wheel of Time have now scattered to the four winds:
