In March 2022, Amazon bought the MGM film studio and thus took over a considerable catalog of well-known films and series. Now the giant wants out of the acquired rights Profitable and announces the development of several major projects. Among other things, the revival of RoboCop and Stargate is planned.
As Deadline has learned from its sources, various ideas for the two science fiction franchises are currently being discussed at Amazon. Although the RoboCop reboot from 2014 didn’t spark at all and the younger Stargate projects could hardly make a name for themselves, Amazon sees great potential in the brands.
Sci-Fi universes at Amazon: New films and series from RoboCop and Stargate possible
The plans are not concrete yet. As Deadline writes, Amazon is in both cases both in new films and in new series interested. Whether these are cinematic universes or separate projects is unclear. Amazon isn’t just pursuing the strategy with RoboCop and Stargate, however.
