Agreeing on a film is sometimes not that easy for a family with several members. Madagascar on Amazon Prime: A modern family film classic

That’s what it’s about: A lion, a zebra, a giraffe and a hippopotamus escape from the New York Zoo to live in freedom in 2005’s Madagascar. But without the help of the little professionals, the penguins, they won’t get far. Only the lemurs and their King Julien are just as cool and clumsy as the penguins. They are real party animals in the jungle and an absolute highlight of the film. However, our zoo animals are not prepared for these peculiarities and the dangers of the wild and have to see how they get along outside of their regular zoo times.

Madagascar has spawned a major franchise over the last 19 years, with numerous sequels and spin-offs as well as the pretty funny animated series The Penguins of Madagascar, which is also available on Amazon Prime in a flat rate. The first film in the series is almost two decades old, but is still worth watching today.

Despicable Me on Amazon Prime: Starting point of the Minions

That’s what it’s about: The supervillain Gru wants to implement a bitterly evil plan: he wants to steal the moon. But when he adopts the three orphan girls Margo, Edith and Agnes, his life changes. The initially selfish Gru gains a sense of family and fatherhood. But he doesn’t remain the only supervillain and with the help of his minions he soon has to defend himself against the adversary Vector, who is also aiming for the moon.

Hardly any animated film this century has achieved what Despicable Me has achieved since its release in 2010. Not only merchandise products, but also memes and video games have appeared in a very short time. And Minions are everywhere, who even got their own spin-off film series. The little yellow helpers have become an integral part of pop culture.

When combined, the two family films last exactly 3 hours and 1 minute. You will not only make yourself happy with the evening-filling combination, but also your children. The second and third parts of Despicable Me and the Minions spin-off are also streaming on Amazon Prime. Maybe the streaming evening should last a little longer.
