However, although the Kindle brand is much appreciated by a majority of its users, some are angry following Amazon’s latest decisions. The brand has removed a key functionality from its digital readers, then losing several books bought legally in the past from some users. We explain to you.
When you buy a Kindle reader, you must also download digital books on the small tablet to be able to enjoy it wherever you go. If it is possible to take advantage of the official Kindle blind on your tablet, many users also went through online blinds on their computer. This allows you to have a larger screen area, but also to travel the available online selections much faster. Once the books of your choice are found and bought, it was enough to transfer them to your tablet via USB to take advantage of them.
Since February 26, this is unfortunately no longer possible. Amazon has simply deleted the possibility of downloading and transferring virtual books via USB, even if you have already bought them. This option was particularly appreciated by users since it made it possible to continue to have the book on another medium than the reader in case the latter has a problem, that the book in question was deleted by Amazon, or that you decide to use this book on a reader of another brand.
From now on, Kindle users are all housed in the same brand: you have to go through the dedicated store on your Kindle and download your books on Wi-Fi. A decision that has not failed to have Internet users react HappilyRED Who, on the website of the Theverge media, writes: “I bought more than 1000 Books on Amazon, but this is the last thing to push me outside their ecosystem. If I buy a book, I should be able to read it for the rest of my life ! “
Amazon did not react on the situation. Internet users are not however fooled and the deletion of this functionality is certainly designed to combat illegal downloads and online piracy.
Fortunately, there are some alternatives. Some are clearly not legal, and we are not going to approach them here. However, it is always possible to go through other online catalogs, as long as you respect the conditions of use of books and your Kindle.
