In November, Amazon announced that it planned to lay off 10,000 employees, which has now increased to 18,000.
“Amazon has survived uncertain and difficult economic times in the past, and we will continue to do so. These changes will help us achieve our long-term opportunities with a stronger cost structure,” Amazon CEO Andy Jassy wrote in an email to employees, as the company also published.
According to Jassy, the layoffs will affect Amazon’s physical stores and administrative functions such as HR.
