There are such high hopes for young people Alvar Myhlback. Only 18 years old, he is one of the world’s most promising skiers and the last season was his big breakthrough.
Myhlback’s success
Myhlback has had eyes on him for several years and last year he got to show his full potential. The giant talent wrote Swedish sporting history in the Vasaloppet with a very impressive third place, he won double JVM gold and made an early debut at the World Cup.

Now he has decided to invest wholeheartedly in traditional cross-country skiing after having competed extensively in long-distance races. Ahead of the coming season, which will be his very first as a senior skier, the big goal is the World Ski Championships in 2025 in Trondheim.
Alvar is rewarded
Now the 18-year-old is being rewarded after the great breakthrough last winter. Alvar Myhlback has been awarded the prestigious scholarship from the fund “The heart beats for skiing and snowboarding” by the Swedish Skiing Association.
– It feels both nice and important to be part of this scholarship. The heart beats a little extra proudly as skiing and snowboarding Sweden believes in me and supports my venture. Many thanks, says Alvar, who belongs to Bjursås IK, in a press release.

The fund has operated for over 50 years and annually awards a scholarship of SEK 15,000 to promising skiers and snowboarders in Sweden, with the aim of motivating continued training and development. The scholarship is awarded every two years to girls and boys respectively, and the nominations are made by leaders in the associations within the Swedish Skiing Association.
Liam Liljenborgalpine, Richard Nyströmski jumping, Victor Knudsenfreeskiing, Elis Moberghump, Frej Linnessnowboarding, Måns Aberstenski cross, and Vile Noakssontelemark, are the other skiers who received the scholarship this year.
