French alpine star has a brain hemorrhage – for urgent

Cyprien Sarrazin, 30, fell violently last Friday during the alpine skiing men’s World Cup downhill training in Bormio, Italy.

Alpine skier Cyprien Sarrazin has been released from intensive care, the French Ski Federation FFS said on Thursday.

The Frenchman was taken to the hospital by helicopter last Friday, and he had to undergo surgery due to a brain hemorrhage.

– His condition is stable. He has come out of intensive care and is in regular hospital care, the French team doctor Stephane Bulle said in a FFS release.

Sarrazin also injured his leg during his run out. According to the French Ski Federation, he is scheduled to be transferred to a French hospital in Lyon on Friday.

Sarrazin has won five World Cup races in his career. Four of the first places came last season.

Bormio’s perceived dangerous slope has regularly received criticism from skiers, and this year’s race weekend also saw several nasty falls.
