32-year-old Sara Hector made a big impression and got out on the hill with fourth starting number in the first run.
She was stable and finished with a lead of 1.13 before the second run.
And there the outclassing continued. She was superior at the finish, a full 1.42 seconds faster than runner-up Lara Colturi of Albania.
– My God, it’s crazy. I didn’t think this this morning, says Hector in the victory interview in Viaplay.
Third was New Zealander Alice Robinson, 1.52 seconds after winning Hector.
Two other Swedish women landed among the top 20 riders. Lisa Nyberg was 13th (+3.29) and Estelle Alphand 16th (+3.61).
Leads the giant slalom cup
The winning Swede now leads the giant slalom cup on 296 points. Behind her is the Italian Federica Brignone on 200 points.
She also leads the World Cup total on 407 points, 24 down on Camille Rast of Switzerland.
Before today’s competition, Hector had two podium places in giant slalom this season. She won at Killington in November and followed that up with a runner-up finish at the Austrian Semmering in December.
