There are seven races left in the World Cup and Gut-Behrami leads with 305 points ahead of the injured Mikaela Shiffrin, who plans to make a comeback in the Åre slalom and giant slalom next weekend.
Gut-Behrami won the overall World Cup in 2016 and did not think this opportunity would open up in the autumn of his career.
– It’s so cool and I’m so happy about it. I never thought I would be racing at the age of 32 and it feels great, said Gut-Behrami after his eighth win of the season – 45th overall.
Also tomorrow, a super-G will be run on the Norwegian Olympic hill.
“The feeling doesn’t last a thousand years”
– I’m looking forward to the next competitions and hopefully riding well. I try to enjoy what I do now because I know there won’t be a thousand more races. I try to keep the great feeling of driving fast the way I do. I know this feeling won’t last a thousand years.
The home crowd gave 31-year-old Ragnhild Mowinckel, who finished 12th but received a bouquet of flowers, extra support in her penultimate race on Norwegian soil before she hangs up her skis after the season.
– I will take revenge tomorrow, the Norwegian promises to NRK.
Lisa Hörnblad was on her way to a cannon ride and was ten from starting number 45 halfway through the race before she went out on the bumpy hill.
