Johnson, with several victories in the World Cup, was suspended for 14 months after missing three doping checks in one year. The suspension made her miss all last season. In December 2024, she was able to compete again and thus also go to the Alpine World Cup in Saalbach, Austria.
On Saturday it was time for the downhill race and then the American delivered big. She was first out and had control, drove down the hill with good looks and secured a World Cup gold.
Austrian Mirjam Puchner took silver and the bronze went to Ester Ledecka from the Czech Republic.
Another American who competed was legend Lindsey Vonn. The 40-year-old went down in 15th place.
