Alpine: Giant slalom in Åre – Sara Hector leads after the first run

Hector was the first rider out for the day and offered a stable ride where she finished in 1.10.94. The home crowd cheered and a large number of flags were waved in the blue-yellow crowd.

And the time turned out to be very good compared to the competition.

The favorite Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland is in second place, but didn’t really keep up with Hector and finished 61 hundredths behind the Swede.

Italy’s Federica Brignone is third, 1.16 behind Hector.

It was already clear that American superstar Mikaela Shiffrin would forego Saturday’s giant slalom and only run Sunday’s slalom.

Åre is the last stop of the season for the ladies on the tour before it’s time for the World Cup Finals in Saalbach, Austria.

The first ride is underway. The second ride starts at 1:30 p.m.
