The day after the Swedish bronze in the team competition, the Monsén charges before its start in Saalbach, Austria, with just super-G on Friday.
– After Kitzbühel, it feels like I got into the right rhythm in the ride. It was probably the race that gave me a World Cup start and it was very nice to get it before the World Cup, says Monsén.
It has been three years of injury problems, but 30-year-old Monsén shows an indomitable desire to constantly get back with small resources in his one-man team.
“As if the plug was going out in Kitzbühel”
– It has been a trip to go around with my own team. I want to get it at the competition, what performs on training. It was as if the plug was going out in Kitzbühel and I got to the ride that I know I have in me.
He sees personal best with tenth place in Kitzbühel as a springboard for even better efforts and is mentally prepared to perform something big.
– You are here to compete for medals, otherwise I would not have attended a World Cup and at a World Cup everything can happen, which the story has shown time and time again.
