Sundsvall -born Aicher switched to his father’s Germany five years ago to get better training opportunities. After the World Cup in Saalbach, the 21-year-old has gained good speed on the stuff. In the last four speed competitions she has two wins and a second place and this by a girl who when the season began to see herself as a slalom skier.
– I’m happy with my skiing. I am happy with how I have improved in recent weeks. It was a nice track, it really had no difficulties. It was fun to ski, says Aicher to the international ski association FIS.
Cornelia Hütter was on her way to the victory and was 43 hundredths before Aicher at the last time but drove out in the final part of the shortened course.
Early starting number an advantage
Aicher thanks his early starting number three for the success.
– I was lucky with the license plate. It was dark and soft and slow, so it was a big advantage today, says Aicher, who left the second Sofia Goggia with 37 hundredths the last sector and pressed by and won with six hundredths.
Aicher is living his dream right now.
– In the speed branches I had not expected this at all. I wanted to ski, but never thought I would do this. It means a lot. It is a dream come true, that is what I work for every day, so it is nice that it pays off. Reflects Aicher.
