Alpine: Cyprien Sarrazin in a nasty crash on the Olympic hill – was picked up by helicopter

It was on the infamous Stelvio circuit in Bormio, Italy, that the accident occurred. Sarrazin lost control in a jump at the bottom of the hill and landed hard on the ground, back first, Blick reports.

Sarrazin, who was the fastest in Thursday’s practice, is said to have then slid into the safety net at high speed and remained motionless there. He received treatment for an extended period of time by medical personnel, before finally being transported from there by helicopter.

Is conscious

The extent of the injury is currently unknown, but the French Ski Federation says to Eurosport that Sarrazin is conscious.

– Cyprien is conscious after the accident in Bormio. He will now undergo examinations, says the association to the television channel.

Sarrazin’s teammate Nils Allegre is now directing strong criticism at the competition organizer.

– The slope is poorly prepared. There is no respect for the riders, the speed must be reduced. I don’t even want to think about the 2026 Winter Olympics being held here, he tells Eurosport.

“A Struggle for Survival”

The Swiss star Marco Odermatt is also critical of the back. He crossed the finish line after what he called “a fight for survival”. For Blick, he describes the area where Sarrazin crashed:

– There is a change in the snow right there, so a lot of focus is required and there is little room for error. But I don’t get the impression that Sarrazin took too many risks.

Sarrazin has a total of five World Cup victories on his CV.

Training was stopped for 20 minutes in connection with the crash. Felix Monsén is the only Swede in the competition.
