Almost ten dead from listeria meat in the United States | News in brief

This is the largest listeria-related illness wave in the United States since 2011.

At least nine people have died in the United States from food poisoning caused by listeria bacteria, officials said on Wednesday. In addition, at least nearly 60 people have fallen ill or had to be hospitalized.

The deaths are linked to a local food company’s recall of cold cuts. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the food poisoning began in late May.

This is the largest wave of listeria-related illness in the United States since 2011. Listeria is especially dangerous for the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems.
