Almost no one wanted to move to northern Sweden

Travel paid, accommodation arranged and also a summer bonus of SEK 10,000. It attracted four Norrland municipalities to get the unemployed in Sörmland to move north.

But out of 35 advertised jobs, only nine people were hired as summer temps, reports Kommunalarbetaren.

The hopes that the people would stay after the summer were also dashed. Only three chose to remain in one of the municipalities of Boden, Kiruna, Luleå and Skellefteå.

– You have to be efficient to catch people in a recruitment process and many had time to take other jobs, says Camilla Edholm at the employment agency’s office for transformation and matching in Skellefteå, and responsible for the project.
