– Throughout August it usually rains about 60 millimeters, it has been a lot of rain in a short time, says Therese Fougman, meteorologist at SMHI.
SMHI has issued a warning for torrential rain. According to Fougman, the rain will continue throughout the day.
– When it rains this much, there is a risk that the stormwater system will not have time to get the water away, which can lead to flooded basements, she says.
“Over 30 alarms”
And it has been noticed by the Mälardalen Rescue Region. They have received over 30 alarms.
– We had a busy evening and night. We haven’t had the resources to go to everything, we’ve had to prioritize, says duty officer Stefan Peterson.
During the morning, the emergency services have, among other things, been on site at a group home in Flen where water has flowed into the corridor and basement.
– Right now it’s pretty calm anyway. But we will see how it develops during the day, he says.
