Almost a hundred people have died after a ship carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Mauritania on Monday, the country’s state news agency Ami reported on Thursday.

Around 70 passengers are believed to be still missing. The Coast Guard has found 89 migrants on board dead. Nine people were rescued.

According to the news agency, those who survived the accident have said that there were a total of 170 passengers on the ship that left the border of Senegal and Gambia.
