Another Utrecht researcher, earth scientist Appy Sluijs from Utrecht University, will investigate with his team how climate change reinforces itself. For example, rising temperatures can lead to the thawing of frozen ground in the Arctic, releasing more carbon dioxide and causing temperatures to rise further. The NWO is making 30.6 million euros available for this purpose.
