Who classic adventure films If you can get something out of it, you should definitely turn on the TV on Sunday. You can watch a film marathon that features two Fritz Lang classics: The Tiger of Eschnapur and The Indian Tomb. On top of that there is also The Legend of the Mask.
That’s what The Tiger of Eschnapur by Fritz Lang is about
The film from 1959 tells a truly adventurous story: an engineer from Germany (Paul Hubschmid) is hired by the Maharajah of Eschnapur to build some important buildings. On the way However, the engineer saves the life of a dancer (Debra Paget).when she is attacked by a tiger. The two fall in love, but the woman was supposed to marry the Maharaja.

The Indian Tomb continues exactly where The Tiger of Eschnapur left off. The engineer Harald Berger and the dancer Seetha flee from the Indian Maharaja and get caught in a dangerous sandstorm. But they also have to deal with leprosy sufferers and the Maharaja’s half-brother, who is assigned to them.

The legend of the mask does not come from Fritz Lang, but from 2014. Here we see how the archaeologist Katja Bennecke (Claudia Michelsen). Excavations at a Mayan ruin an important find in Mexico might. However, mysterious things happen immediately afterwards: a colleague is poisoned and the police may even be involved in a conspiracy including the kidnapping of their daughter.

Most film connoisseurs would probably consider Fritz Lang to be the one Director of legendary films like Metropolis, M – A city is looking for a murderer and The Testament of Dr. Know Mabuse. With these masterpieces he has earned a reputation as a true visionary and is therefore rightly celebrated as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers in the world, and especially in Germany.
The Tiger of Eschnapur and The Indian Tomb don’t quite achieve the finesse that Fritz Lang had at the height of his creativity, but they are still better than a lot of what else is on TV. They owe this not least to the exuberant features of the films and this results in one fascinating journey through time back to the end of the 1950s.
